TORONTO, ON, October 22nd, 2018 — BDO is pleased to announce that it has entered into a national partnership with the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO). Moving forward, BDO will be a key contributor of relevant research and valuable insight for angel investors, incubators, accelerators, and early-stage VCs, as well as professional development workshops for investors and founders through the NACO Academy.
This partnership will provide much-needed intellectual support to all sides of the angel community. Founders will be better equipped to present their ideas. New angels will be better equipped to spot winners. And seasoned investors, incubators and accelerators will have more resources to help their projects generate healthy returns.
“We want to position all Canadian startups for success,” said Peter Matutat National Technology & Life Sciences Leader at BDO. “Working with NACO is a way we can make that happen.” Brion Hendry, BDO’s GTA Technology & Life Sciences Industry Leader, sees the partnership through a different yet equally important lens. “Recognizing a great idea is one thing, but angel investors also need to know the companies they back have the institutional knowledge to grow healthy businesses. That’s a big part of our offering.”
BDO will also deliver the StartSmart program to angel-backed companies who meet eligibility criteria. StartSmart is tailored for Canadian startups and offers turnkey solutions to support growth at every stage. Benefits of the program include:
- A complimentary consultation to discuss the state of operations and growth goals
- A meeting with BDO’s Government Incentives Consulting team to review grant options
- Three months of complimentary cloud-based payroll and bookkeeping services
- Direct access to the BDO STARTSMART team for advice and feedback
Yuri Navarro, CEO of NACO, is thrilled to be working with BDO. “Whether you’re a founder or an investor, having a trusted advisor to help you navigate opportunities and challenges can increase your chances of success. BDO is that advisor.’”
