Angel Investors
GAN is Canada's newest angel group (there are almost 30 across Canada at this time), having commenced operations effective November, 2009. GAN was conceived to forge linkages between investors and entrepreneurs in the Georgian Triangle+ region.

The GAN area runs from Owen Sound along the south shore of Georgian Bay to Midland & Penetanguishene. It runs south from Parry Sound/Huntsville down to the Barrie area, and includes all points in between. This territory contains a population base of approximately 300,000 from which our members are drawn, and an untold number of smaller entrepreneurial companies in which to invest. 

We are seeking to assemble a group of like-minded high/ultra high net worth investors who want to derive the benefits - financial and otherwise - that are possible through direct private equity investment, as part of a group.

Our objective is to quickly scale the GAN up to a "core" membership of investors in early-2011, thereby enabling us to aggregate sufficient capital to start doing deals. Thereafter, by existing member referral or otherwise, we hope to double that number by calendar year-end. We also welcome angels that currently belong to existing groups ("dual citizens"), as we see their experience and perspective as instrumental in helping to create a high-functioning group.

While some of GAN's founding members may be first time group investors, they bring their own strong backgrounds in building successful businesses. We are fortunate that, while angel group investing is less than 10 years old in Canada, various best practices have been established by NACO and others that will accelerate the learning curve of the group.

We plan to hold monthly investment presentation meetings 10 times yearly, most likely in 2 locations the same day. The format will typically be a 2-hour breakfast or lunch meeting at which two or three pre-screened prospects are chosen to present to the members. These meetings also offer an opportunity to both network and interact with peers, while viewing exciting early stage companies.
